In the creator's imagination,Cabotineis the daughter of Cabochard, a younger generation perfume that retains the elegance and exclusivity of Cabochard. It was created with love and enthusiasm on a very limited budget and became a classic of the 1990s.

The composition revolves around a sweet, Himalayan flower, blooming in wide blossoms. This flower grows in harsh conditions and only blooms for a few weeks in spring. Each flower is only alive for a few hours, which makes it extremely difficult to collect the aromatic oils. However, perfumers have managed to copy this fragrance and it is now easy to make. Cabotine perfume was the first perfume to use this sweet aroma.

Jean-Claude Delville of IFF created the fragrance and hoped to produce a light but durable perfume, which was a difficult task. The perfumer found his formula in the floral-aldehyde chord and presented a transparent fragrance with green flowers and spicy aldehyde notes. Grès Cabotine was a success despite very limited advertising and promotional support.
